“It shall come to pass, when you be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days”, says the Lord, “they shall say no more, “The Ark of the Covenant of the Lord:” neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall it be magnified anymore.” (Jeremiah 3:16)

Which is the centre of the earth on a world map that bridges three continents of Europe, Asia and Africa? It’s the Middle East and lying central in this region is the country of Israel. The holiest city in all of Israel is Jerusalem because the temple of Solomon was housed there. Solomon’s temple had three partitions – the Outer Court, the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies. Right in the centre of the earth, in the Holy of Holies where no man could enter was a cubicle, inside which was the Ark of the Covenant. In the old testament, this is the most holiest of all and the presence of God dwelt between the two cherubim which represent the judicious eyes of God. Below the cherubim was the mercy seat where blood was sprinkled once a year on the day of atonement. Below the mercy seat were three items that stood as witnesses against man.

The three items were the law (10 commandments on two tablets of stone), Aaron’s rod that supernaturally budded with almond buds and pot of manna. All these three items bore witness against man as they represented man’s disobedience to God’s law, man’s rejection of God appointed leadership and man’s rejection of God’s provision. The whole Ark of the covenant stood as a wall between God and man and if anyone tried to handle the Ark or look inside, they were struck dead. The judgment of God fell instantly on anyone who dare open the Ark for God’s judicious eyes cannot behold sin without destruction. That was the reason for the mercy seat as it covered all of man’s sin against God by the presence of blood on it.

Today, the Ark of the Covenant is no more there. In fact Biblical archaeologists are searching high and low for the Ark but they cannot find it. Even in the Bible, the Ark doesn’t find much mention in the latter narrations of the old testament. Many believe that the Ark of the Covenant was lost when the Romans destroyed Solomon’s temple in AD 70, but there’s no compelling evidence for it. Folks, God had divinely orchestrated the supernatural disappearance of the Ark. Let me show you in a while where the true Ark of the Covenant is! If God is angry today, as many believe, and if God is judging nations for their sins, the Ark should still be there, technically speaking, for the high priest to offer sacrifices on the day of atonement. All those who believe God is judging sinners today, and God is putting sicknesses on people to teach them something should have a look at this verse!

Folks, this verse is a prophecy that has been fulfilled today! Israel is back in their land fulfilling Bible prophecy and it’s only a matter of time for the second coming of our Lord. Notice what the Lord says here through prophet Jeremiah. When preachers condemn believers, calling them worthless sinners, they fail to see what has happened at the cross. God does not want to remember the old covenant of the law, although many churches want to! He says, today believers will no more talk about the Ark, nor will it come to their mind or heart, nor shall any visit it, neither shall it be magnified anymore. God wants the believers to not talk about it, not be conscious of it or look back at our old sinful self as our identity or dwell or meditate on it. Why?

Jesus and His finished work is the reality of the Ark of the Covenant. On the cross, He became an over payment for all of man’s rebellion. No one could keep the law, but Jesus did on our behalf and fulfilled every dot and tittle of the law perfectly on the cross. All of man’s rebellion, including rejection of Jesus on the cross, Jesus paid for it by His shed blood. He died for the very people that put Him there! The pot of manna is a picture of Jesus Himself who came to be our Salvation, our Righteousness, our Redemption, our Healing, our Provision and our Everything. Yet, the world rejected Him and God turned man’s most sinful act of wickedness as God’s most gracious move of forgiveness of sins. That’s the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ! God does not want a relationship based on laws, He wants one based on love, His love for us.

Do you know where is the true Ark of the Covenant today? Inside each of us believers! In the old testament, the Ark rested in the Holy of Holies of Solomon’s temple. Today, we’re the temple of God and the Ark rests in our Holy of Holies, which is new born again spirit. Folks, God is not happy being on the outside, He wants to be on the inside of us, as one of us. There is no person in the world that can get close enough to be on the inside of you. The closest worldly relationships could be your spouse and the child in a mother’s womb. But Jesus has come into a place that no man can come and that’s how close and intimate He wants to be! That’s the Creator’s longing and today because of the cross, this prophecy has been fulfilled in all of us. We’re no more mindful of the old testament Ark, because we have become the temple of God carrying the reality, Jesus Himself!

His presence in us through the Holy Spirit is our guarantee of eternal life, eternal forgiveness of sins, perfect righteousness, forever in the favour of God never again to be judged or condemned. You don’t wait till you get to heaven to meet Jesus. He’s made your spirit His home and before you meet Him there, enjoy His presence right inside of you! Folks, this is a privilege that has come about by the grace of Jesus and I pray that you see the burning heart of love for you!
