But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people. (Hebrews 9:7)

This is the reality of your new identity: sin cannot tarnish your new identity in Christ! Even when you sin, your new born again identity in the spirit stays intact! By saying that I’m not advocating sin, but when you do sin, the knowledge of this truth will set you free from the guilt and condemnation of sin. The antidote to sin is the gift of no condemnation and that’s the truth being preached here. It is my desire to enlighten you to the truth of your new identity so that you don’t succumb to condemnation, guilt and fear. So how can a believer be deemed sinless when he is still capable of committing sin? This is the beauty of the new covenant of grace! Jesus sees you sinless and spotless as a believer, yes even that sin you committed this morning Jesus has not marked it! Why?

When Adam fell, God came in search of Adam. He called, “Adam where are you?” Didn’t God know where Adam was? Was he reminding Adam that he’s fallen? No! God literally lost Adam in the identity He knew Adam in! Adam’s identity changed, from that of being a spirit man to a sinner in the flesh. Adam was no more operating in the identity that God knew him by, but had fallen. In the old identity of Adam, he was sinless, perfect, blameless without the knowledge of good and evil. Now, post fall, Adam was absent in his old identity and instead he was made alive to the new one: a man tarnished by sin. God is a Spirit and He fellowships with man by His Spirit. Jesus was God in the flesh, made manifest for a specific purpose, but God is a Spirit. And God knew Adam no more in the spirit because Adam’s spirit was dead and he was alive to sin and the law. Now to restore Adam back to the spirit, Adam needed an all new spirit that is better than the old one, that cannot be tarnished by sin. But God cannot give an all new spirit without destroying Adam’s current identity. This fallen identity needs to be destroyed, but without destroying Adam. The solution? God chose to send His Son to die for Adam and all mankind!

Have you noticed in the old testament that God always spoke from the outside? You will read accounts of God’s voice being heard physically, people feeling the presence of God, visually seeing God manifest in the burning bush or the rushing wind and the best of all, people saw Jesus and knew him in the flesh externally. God spoke to prophets from the outside and the prophets recorded the words of God. A marked difference in the new testament from the book of Acts is that you hardly find accounts of God speaking from the outside. God spoke from within, through Paul, John, James, Peter and He continues to do so. For instance the epistles of Paul are written as if Paul is writing, but whatever Paul wrote is the Word of God! What changed? God spoke from within! A God who was outside man (which is distant by God’s standards!), spoke from within, by becoming one with the new born again spirit! Such is the intimacy that Jesus wants to have with man! That speaks volumes of His love! I will now show the characteristics of the old covenant tabernacle that was made with human hands. That was the shadow, what we have now is the reality.

The tabernacle of the old covenant, where the Ark of the Covenant rested, had three portions: the Outer Court, the Sanctuary and the Most Holy Place. The innermost part of the tabernacle, the Most Holy Place is partitioned by a thick veil and only the High Priest entered once a year with blood to offer for himself and for the sins of the people. The High Priest had to make sure that he had purged for his sins perfectly before entering failing which, the judgment of God fell upon him consuming him. You may think that’s harsh but it’s not the harshness of God, but the fallen nature of man that causes it. His garment had a train trailing all the way to the outer court of the tabernacle so that if the High Priest died in the Most Holy Place, he could be pulled outside using the train. Nobody else could ever step inside the Most Holy Place and come back alive because everyone including the priest were tarnished by sin.

When Jesus died on the cross, the veil that separated the Most Holy Place was rent in two! The veil was opened by the Blood sacrifice of the Lamb. Until then, the Most Holy Place was guarded as mentioned in this verse because the first tabernacle was standing. The Most Holy Place is the picture of our new born again spirit where the Holy Spirit resides. The identity that Adam lost through sin, Jesus restored by His once for all atonement for sin on the cross. The day you were born again, your dead spirit was made alive by an all new spirit! The veil that covered the Most Holy Place is the old fallen identity of sin. Like the torn veil, the old fallen identity of man has been crucified on the cross. How? Because, Jesus not only died for us, He died as us! Jesus’ death was as good as Adam’s fallen identity being dead! Here is the wisdom of God! In our born again spirit which is our new identity, we are sinless, because our actions of sin cannot enter the spirit realm! Remember the old covenant tabernacle? Anybody with sin couldn’t enter, including the High Priest! Why? Sin cannot enter the Most Holy Place. Likewise, sin cannot enter our born again spirit, because sin dies! Jesus has made our new spirit His tabernacle, the Most Holy Place and given us the Holy Spirit to reside in us forever!

Even when you fall, Jesus still sees you perfect, even when you sin, Jesus still sees you sinless! Why? Your identity has been restored! Not just restored but renewed in Christ! God sees you as He sees Jesus, who is your new identity! The more we see ourselves the way God sees us, the truth qualities of our new identity starts manifesting in the physical realm! Adam was lost once and God called out to find where he was; you as a believer are back to the original spirit identity because of Jesus! You can never be lost, ever again!
